Some of the listens, reads, and teachers I’ve enjoyed over the past year.
Books
The Earth in Her Hands: 75 Extraordinary Women Working in the World of Plants by Jennifer Jewell
Stories of plant women to inspire and envision… botany, floral design, landscape architecture, farming, herbalism, and more. I love reading about the stories of these kindred souls.
Mary Magdalene Revealed: The First Apostle, Her Feminist Gospel & the Christianity We Haven't Tried Yet by Meggan Watterson
My second time reading this life changing book. The main message is this: we are inherently good, and that goodness can never be lost. It’s our nature. In the author’s words…
“The word soul to me describes that eternal aspect of our being; an aspect that allows us to feel loved, and to experience that we are love. And that our humanity is not intrinsically sinful, or shameful. This human body is the soul’s chance to be here.”
The truths shared are revolutionary to my previous beliefs, and let me tell you, it feels like coming home.
The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz
Another re-read. Have you ever gone back to a book you’ve already read and discover that you’re hearing the same words with new perspective? It’s happening for me on this one.
How to Be Loving: As Your Heart Is Breaking Open and Our World Is Waking Up by Danielle LaPorte
In the middle of this one on Audible. Highlighter moments in my mind as I listen. I imagine a hard cover copy would be full of tabs and underlines. I can’t think of one human who doesn’t need these words. It’s so easy to listen to, and full of grounded practices. Transformative.
Prayers of Honoring by Pixie Lighthorse
I love that it’s divided into seasons. I started in the Autumn/West section of the book since that’s what season it is right now where I live. As always, it seems I received this book at the exact right time because as soon as I start reading the introduction, I remember one of my three cards for the year from the 13 Holy Nights ritual was about the power of group prayer and I’ve been curious about it ever since, wondering what that means for me — how it’s going to show up in my life. I think this book is a gift and piece of this revealing. I’ll share here some of the words that highlighted for me on page 61 in the prayer for honoring grief…
"Remind us that we do not have to fill the empty places with anything at all at this time. Guide us gently through the anxiety of vacancy where love once held us."
Podcasts
The Astrology Hub Podcast
I discovered this podcast in 2020 and I’ve learned so much about myself and astrology since. If you’re curious about our connection to the cosmos, I highly recommend listening and learning. One episode I enjoyed the most recently (and had a reframe of embodiment and tantra) was episode #550: The Truth about Tantra, Desire & Astrology with Adam Gainsburg and Katherine Zorensky
With Love, Danielle
Danielle LaPorte has been a light on my path since at least 2012, and recently I’ve been loving her podcast so much. Highlighted here, an episode from June 20, 2022 called “Nothing leaves until you love it.”
“Everything is asking for the power of your attention so it can relax and transform…”

I find synchronicity often between the things I'm reading and listening to. Right now it's "A Carpenter's Life as Told by Houses" by Larry Haun, "Sacred Economics" by Charles Eisenstein, and "Active Hope" by Joanna Macy and Chris Johnstone. They encourage thinking differently about "gift," possessions, money, community, and the environment.
